For proof of the failure of the ideology one only need look at the shambles that was the 'World Day for Animals in Laboratories 2011' march at the weekend. A slow trudge through the streets of Manchester to the utter indiference of the local people and even the police (a FIT team turned up and then left after 20 minutes when they realised how few were there). There was a time when this would have been a vibrant loud event with thousands of young people present but the stain of SHAC that hangs over any AR event in the UK meant that the participants were most of the 'mad old lady with lots of cats' variety. There was some attempt at SHAC fund raising with requests for donations but long term AR people are of course wise to where the money goes by now so marchers wisely kept their money in their wallets and purses.
As the wider AR movement in the UK follows SHAC into decline and obscurity we SHACwatchers can enjoy the spectacle of the fighting over the last few regualr dontations.
How long before others will be asking for their 'time to write a book' in France ?
Perhaps I can help to explain why so many SHAC types are suddenly all over SHACWATCH.
Some SHACWATCHERS may be aware of the implosion of the UK Indymedia site. Putting aside all the disgusting anti-semitism that has driven the split there is also the matter of the SHAC ban that Indymedia Northern and we in London want to introduce. A number of IMC moderators (me included) have been receiving emails and texts from SHAC people demanding that the ban on SHAC posts will not be implmented after the IMC UK fork on the 1st of May. These demands have been refused and a number of the more aggressive SHAC people (ie the ALF lot) having been sending out emails encouraging others to spam sites like SHACWATCH to quote, "show the power of SHAC".
Information sent to London IMC (but not published on the site as it broke our Editorial Guidelines about private details) indicated that the French police acting on information from the UK may well be seizing a house in France which it is alleged was purchased by funds intended for a charity linked to SHAC.
If SHAC people continue to threaten IMC people these details will be published. Details will include who owns the house and who lives there now as well as the full address details. SHAC supporters may well wish to visit and see what thir money was spent on.
Congratulations to London IMC for a dignified, and diplomatic, well-targeted threat. "behave or the holiday villa gets it!"
In Medawar's experience, fraud and stalking always go together. This indeed is also the experience of a great many American targets of divers stalking gangs, some connected to animal rights and some connected to stranger causes than that.
